The Last Days of Summer
It's Labor Day. You know what that means - the end of summer. Unofficially, of course. Before the pools close, the days get short, and the snow begins to fall, we decided to live it up in the sunshine. So we went to the pool...
A pool with a beautiful view, I might add
and we played
and floated
and noodled (or something like that)
and snacked
and tried to walk in the water...
but it was tricky.

I was excited to take him to this pool because it had a seperate kiddie pool that was 1 1/2 feet deep. It was the first time we had been to this type of pool since he has started walking and I thought that it would be so much easier now that he could walk. Wrong. He is still not overly stable on land, and water is even harder. But, he did not want to hold our hand - Mr. Independent wanted to do it on his own. So we hovered over him and tried to catch him when he fell - before he hit the water. Sometimes we were successful, and sometimes he sucked in a little water. Oops.
Here is Papa trying to catch Caden before he hits the water. He got him - by the face. He he he, this makes me laugh every time I watch it!
Caden also spent an afternoon playing with Nana in the water. They had the hose out and were both drenched by the time I found them!

What are we going to do all winter?!?

Sunday Snapshot {Teeth Brushing}
Now that our little friend has some teeth (4 to be exact!) we've started adding brushing teeth to our bedtime routine.

Big Helper!
What did we do before we had Caden to help out? We certainly weren't able to hose off the house without him - who would hold the end of the hose?
And we certainly would never have been able to wash the car without him!
Thank goodness for our big helper!

My Little Copycat
Sometimes we wonder if Caden understands what we're doing. Apparently he does. Apparently we watch too much TV around here. Here is is "changing" the channel...
Daddy must have taught him the upside down and backwards method!

What a Mess!
Caden likes to do things by himself. This morning he needed to feed himself his yogurt. In fact, he wouldn't take any if I gave it to him. By himself, thank you very much. I admit that I have avoided this as long as possible. It's just so messy! He's been feeding himself with a fork (less mess!) but the spoon was another story. This morning, however, I gave in. Yes, it was messy. Yes, he loved it. Yes, it is another sign that my baby is growing up. Sigh. Again.
Pay no attention to the pink spoon and bowl Caden is using - they came in the set and he is very secure with his masculinity!

Sunday Snapshot {Clean Countertop}
For 15 months, the countertop behind our sink has looked like this...
...a cleaning and drying station for bottles.
Today, however, the countertop looks like this...
Yep, all of the bottles, nipples, caps, etc. have all been packed away
Why?!?
Because this sippy-cup drinking boy (who loves the singing and dancing on Barney!)...
...has given up the bottle completely!
...has given up the bottle completely!I'm a sad that my little one is growing up so quickly, but super happy to have my countertop back.
Really though, it may be a few more years before I get it back completely. Instead of bottles this is what I have now...
Sigh. At least the kitchen sink is clear!
