My New Year's Resolution is to be better about blog posting. So, I'm starting the year off right - with a post on 1/1!
Here are the top 10 things that happened to Team Zahrte in 2013:
10. BOTH boys got their casts removed!
Yes, 2013 was the year of the cast. Asher broke his falling down the stairs in January and Caden broke his jumping on a trampoline in May. While getting them on certainly wasn't a highlight, getting the removed definitely was! I'm happy to report that (knock on wood!) we have been cast free for the last 6 months!
9. Asher's first haircut
He may have thought it was torture, but he thought the outcome was SUPER handsome!
8. Caden's first Slurpee
It may have been his first, but definitely not his last! "Slup-ees" from "7-televen" are one of his favorite treats!
7. Vacations!
To make up for the family vacation to Breckenridge that we missed due to the many casts in our house, we took a last minute trip to Dillon, CO over the 4th of July. It was just the 4 of us in a little condo on Lake Dillon, and we had a fabulous time - Caden even rode an alpine slide for the first time.
JZ and I spent 5 days kid-free at Lake Powell. Sun, fun, boating, and friends. Of course we missed our littles, but It. Was. Awesome.
JZ, CP and I also took a road trip to Lake McConaughy for more boating and fun with friends. We left Asher with Papa and Gaga because we decided he was not quite ready to go camping and boating.
JZ and I also got to visit beautiful Santa Barbara, CA over Labor Day weekend sans-kids AGAIN!
In keeping with the tradition of vacationing withOUT our children, we also took a quick to Vegas in Oct. with some friends. I saw Shania Twain in concert and tried on (but did not purchase!) my first pair of Jimmy Choo heels. Jeremy gambled - who needs pictures of that?!?
6. Back to School
Caden started his last year of preschool and Asher and I headed off to day care at Little Loves Early Learning Center. Caden goes to preschool 3 days a week, Asher is in the toddler room 2 days a week and I am in the infant room 2 days a week. What a wonderful blessing to be bringing in a little income, but still getting to see the boys any time I want!
5. Caden draws a picture of people that really look like people!
CP has always struggled with fine motor skills, so was I ever blown away when he drew a perfect picture of his friend Hayden and himself playing garbage trucks!
4. Skiing and Swimming lessons
Caden loved and EXCELLED at his indoor ski lessons. He's looking forward to getting out on the "real snow" this month when he starts taking lessons again at Loveland Ski Area
Both boys took swimming lessons this winter. Asher took a parent-child class and Caden was in the pike class - for the third time. I'm happy to report that Caden passed the pike and is now an eel! Whoo-hoo!!
3. Birthdays!
Bashy turned 1 in March and we celebrated BIG with a mustache bash and LOTS of cake
Caden turned 4 in May and celebrated with a garbage truck bash that any trash man would be proud of!
2. Asher starts walking!
He was, without a doubt, the scariest, wobbliest walker EVER. It took him awhile to figure it out and I walked behind him, prepared to catch him at any moment for a long time, but by June he started walking more than crawling.
1. The giggles and love that fill our house everyday
I've never seen two boys love each other so much...most of the time.
Happy New Year! 2013 was a wonderful year, but we're ready for what 2014 has in store for us!!
