One year ago today...
In case you missed (or would like to relive) my account of that day, you can read about how we found out we were expecting here.
It's hard to believe that he has gone from two little lines, to a bouncing baby boy. What a miracle and a blessing Caden is!

Are You Ready For Some Football?
Football season has hit our house in a big way.
On Thursday JZ and I got to go to the Broncos vs. Cardinals preseason game. Caden didn't get to go, but he did sport his Broncos wear in support of the home team.

Tonight we all watched the CSU Rams whup-up on the CU Buffs. Sorry CU fans, the Rammies were victorious again!

Family Resemblance?
Check out this family resemblance.

Caden at 12 weeks

Nope, that isn't Daddy, that is Uncle Brett at 6 weeks
Think they're related? Look at the right hand, it's in the exact same position
Lesson #1
Daddy gave Caden his first lesson about how to treat a lady.
Lesson #1 - Always make the lady you love breakfast.
Here are my boys making me breakfast (I used to get breakfast in bed, but I'm not complaining!).

A Great Day
Today was a great day.
Caden slept 9 hours straight (we didn't, but someday we will). He got up and played for about an hour before he needed to sleep again, and he fell asleep in the swing. He was bent over with his head against his shoulder. He has never done that before. I had to take a video of it because he looked so cute. I took it with my phone, so it is not the best quality picture.

We went to church and breakfast too. Caden smiled, giggled, and played with the staff. All of the other customers thought he was the cutest thing. He had one melt down at breakfast. Then the customers felt sorry for us. Sundays are so hard for Caden because we drag him from one place to another. Just about the time he falls asleep we stick him in his car set, or take him out of his car seat...he just can't get a good nap in. By 11:30 he was tired and overstimulated. He let us have it. Jeremy and I each had to do several minutes of walking outside before he fell asleep. Poor baby.
JZ and my dad went to the Rockies game. It was blazing hot, but at least the Rockies won. Mom, C, and I went to their house. I was interested to see how Caden would nap in the Pack N Play. He has taken many naps there, but always in someone's arms. This was the first time he had been there since Operation Sleep Alone began. He did great. He ate, played, and then I swaddled him, gave him a kiss, and plopped him in the Pack N Play. He didn't make a peep for 2.5 hours. Good boy. In the meantime, my mom and I got to watch a chick flick from start to finish. Thanks bubby!
This evening everyone came here and ate pizza (for everyone in the Golden area, did you know Woody's does take and bake pizzas? Yummo!) and Caden rolled from his tummy to his back again, smiled, and giggled up a storm. He is now sleeping soundly and JZ and I are ready for bed too.
Why am I writing about our perfect, albeit ordinary day? Because one day things are not going to go as well. And on that day, I will need a reminder that we do have days like today. Days where I think being a mom is the best thing in the world.
Today was one of those days.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
On Monday, Caden rolled from his tummy to his back. JZ and I were both in the room...and we missed it. I was sitting on the floor next to him, but I was turned around talking to Jeremy. All of a sudden we realized that Caden was on his back!
This morning I was determined to, not only watch him, but to capture it on video. Here is the video of Caden's new trick!
This picture shows how well he can hold his head now - at least for a minute or two. You can also see how pretty his blue eyes still are.
His other new trick is to grab things. On purpose. This includes hair, necklaces, earrings, toys, and the friends hanging down from his play gym. He likes to grab on and hang on. Beware ladies, shiny jewelry is pretty and fun. Here he is with the octopus on his play gym.

Good Girl Belle
Most days, I want to strangle our dog. She barks. She jumps. She doesn't listen well.
Today, I changed my mind.
I put Caden down for a nap and then went to run some errands. When I came home an hour and a half later, JZ was out in the garage (don't worry, he had the monitor!) and C was still sleeping. I quietly snuck into the house and was surprised when Belle didn't come to greet me. "What kind of trouble is she getting into?" I thought. I snuck around the house trying to find her.
I did.
She was guarding her baby. I found that sweet girl taking a nap herself - upstairs, laying in front of Caden's closed door. Since Daddy was outside, she decided she was in charge, and NO ONE was going to take that baby on her watch.
Good girl, Belle.
Then she saw me and barked.
Bad girl, Belle.
