Caden slept 9 hours straight (we didn't, but someday we will). He got up and played for about an hour before he needed to sleep again, and he fell asleep in the swing. He was bent over with his head against his shoulder. He has never done that before. I had to take a video of it because he looked so cute. I took it with my phone, so it is not the best quality picture.
We went to church and breakfast too. Caden smiled, giggled, and played with the staff. All of the other customers thought he was the cutest thing. He had one melt down at breakfast. Then the customers felt sorry for us. Sundays are so hard for Caden because we drag him from one place to another. Just about the time he falls asleep we stick him in his car set, or take him out of his car seat...he just can't get a good nap in. By 11:30 he was tired and overstimulated. He let us have it. Jeremy and I each had to do several minutes of walking outside before he fell asleep. Poor baby.
JZ and my dad went to the Rockies game. It was blazing hot, but at least the Rockies won. Mom, C, and I went to their house. I was interested to see how Caden would nap in the Pack N Play. He has taken many naps there, but always in someone's arms. This was the first time he had been there since Operation Sleep Alone began. He did great. He ate, played, and then I swaddled him, gave him a kiss, and plopped him in the Pack N Play. He didn't make a peep for 2.5 hours. Good boy. In the meantime, my mom and I got to watch a chick flick from start to finish. Thanks bubby!
This evening everyone came here and ate pizza (for everyone in the Golden area, did you know Woody's does take and bake pizzas? Yummo!) and Caden rolled from his tummy to his back again, smiled, and giggled up a storm. He is now sleeping soundly and JZ and I are ready for bed too.
Why am I writing about our perfect, albeit ordinary day? Because one day things are not going to go as well. And on that day, I will need a reminder that we do have days like today. Days where I think being a mom is the best thing in the world.
Today was one of those days.
