Trick-or-Treat

Well, since it's the week of Thanksgiving, I guess I should finish my posts about Halloween - sheesh, this class I'm taking might cause our blog to be shut down from lack of updates (just kidding, Blogger doesn't do that and I only have 2 more weeks of this class).

Ok, well after all the practice that the boys had they were READY for Halloween.  Caden was super excited to wear his Buzz costume to Ms. Amber's house for a party with his school friends.

Wasn't he cute?

He practiced his lasering skills on me...

..and his brother

Asher didn't seem to mind too much and held his own in the cuteness department!

After Caden got home from school he took a super long nap - all that partying wore him out!  When he woke up (hence no pants in the picture below) he got to open his Halloween presents

That evening we went over to Caden's buddy Colin's house for dinner and trick-or-treating.

After we ate the boys had to practice their superhero skills before we could go

Asher put on his "real" costume - the Pokey Little Puppy.  He didn't dig it.

However, he did dig his playmate - Colin's sister, Elise
Yes, she's cute.  Yes, they're the same size. Yes, she's six months older.  Go get 'er big guy!

We loaded everyone up and went trick or treating around Colin's neighborhood.

Who's going to share with us?!?

The boys had a FANTASTIC time!  Caden loves to play with Colin, but on top of that CANDY (sooo much candy!) was part of the deal.  He's still talking about trick-or-treating and his costume (although he won't put it back on because "it's not Halloween!").  I'm not sure that Halloween will ever be any better than this - the first time he totally "got it" - at least until 2015 when Asher is 3!

Halloween at Brianna's

Caden and Asher wrangled themselves an invitation to Brianna's Halloween party again.  As always, it was a hot ticket and the boys had a great time.  The kids played Bingo, looked for ghosts, decorated pumpkins and marshmallows, and ate waaay too much candy (oh wait, maybe that was me)!

Since I was flying solo that day, it was so nice that there were a lot of arms willing to hold Basher.  Here is Asher new buddy, Brianna's grandpa, Larry.

As in previous years, the kids got to go trick-or-treating.  Buzz was ready to get some serious candy.  He wasn't disappointed!

Asher didn't get to trick-or-treat, but he did get to wear a costume

and play with some new (and old!) friends

That night Caden was super jazzed about Halloween (only 3 more days!) so he put on his skeleton jammies too.

Almost time boys, I promise!

Prepping for Halloween

Halloween was so fun this year!  Caden really got into it this year and loved everything about the holiday and the preparations - ok, he loved everything except the masks.

To get ready, we decided that our house needed a little Halloweeny makeover, so we added a few decorations

We had some cool spider webs hanging all over our front porch too.  I can't believe I didn't get a picture of those!

Caden also loved raking the leaves, throwing them, and then jumping in them

The weekend before Halloween we hosted a pumpkin carving party and chili dump for our neighbors, family, and nearby friends.  Everyone brought a pumpkin, a quart of chili, and a topping.  We mixed all the chili together and it was AWESOME!

It was a little chilly, so we also had a hot chocolate bar - complete with marshmallows, whipped cream, peppermints, and lots of other toppings.

Everyone loved carving their pumpkins (or painting them if they were too little to be trusted with sharp carving instruments)

It was a huge success and so much fun.  We've already got it on the calendar for next year!
