Caption This Picture

I love this picture.  I don't have anything witty or clever to say about it because I just laugh every time I look at it...

Hee, hee, her, silly boy!

Got anything brilliant to say about it?

It's Fun to be Three!

I'll apologize right up front - this post contains approximately 1,000,000 pictures of Caden.

I can't help it.

The kid is adorable

I know I'm biased and all, 'cause he's mine, but I'm thinking it's time to get this kid an agent.

Seriously, have you seen him?

This boy could make his Mama a millionaire with that face!

A few days ago, Courtney came to take Caden's 3 year pictures

He dressed up in his super hero shirt for the occasion

They also went on a little Tom Sawyer-esque type of adventure down in the riverbed

It involved sitting on rocks,

playing with leaves,

pondering the meaning of life,

and putting sticks in his toes (I know it's not in the book, but I'm sure he did that)

I also finished Caden's birthday book.  Pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself!

If you somehow missed the answers to Caden's birthday book questions, you can read them here

Yep, it's definitely fun to be three!

Two Months!

Sweet Asher boy turned two months old today...

and he's just as happy to be a big boy as Caden was!

Today we went for a wellness visit
He was 12 lb. 9.6 oz (75%)
23 in (55%)
and his head was 15 3/4 in (55%)

He continues to be a little bigger than his brother all the way around.  At two months, Caden was
11 lb. 6 oz, 22 in long, and his head was 15 1/4 in.

He passed his well check with flying colors!  The thrush has cleared up and everything seems to be perfect.  The only bummer was the shots.  I was a little more prepared for them than I was during the first round with Caden, but I still got a little teary.  Poor little booger let us have it.  I have never seen a face and baldish head get SO RED.  Holy moly, he was ticked! He calmed down pretty quickly thanks to a little sugar water on his pacifier and is soundly sleeping upstairs.  I too have recovered, thanks to a run through Starbucks on our way home.  There's not much a chai tea can't fix!

And, just to show us what a big boy he is, he went 8.5 hours in between feedings last night.  The bummer is that he likes to start that 8.5 hours at 7pm.  Count the hours - that means he was still up at 3:30am, but he ate and went back down quickly (I was back in bed by 4:00) and then he slept until 7:15am.  That's a great night, I think!  In the last month he has moved out of the car seat and into the bassinet.  He's also moved out of our closet and is now sleeping in the bassinet in his big boy room.  How is this happening so fast this time?

Such a sweet, lovey, smiley boy - happy two months Asher Robert!

Happy Mother's Day!

Ah, Mother's Day.  A day set aside to celebrate the two biggest blessings there are - having a mama and being a mama!

We started our day with the usual - church, pictures, and flowers

What?  Isn't that how you start every Sunday?

After church we went to Gram's to celebrate the moms,
Somehow Asher snuck his way in to the picture too!

A beautiful gift for me - a Willow Tree figurine of a Mommy and her two boys

Ryan, the graduate,

and the May birthdays (Dee Dee, JZ, and Caden).
JZ had to represent the May birthdays alone - Dee Dee was in Louisiana and CP was sleeping

And, just for fun, lest you think it's all picture perfect around here, here are some "out takes" from  earlier in the day

Here's a hint on taking pictures with a three-year-old - keep smiling and hope for the best!

It was a fun day celebrating being a Mommy with the ones who made me one.

Happy Mother's Day - we missed you Gaga!

THE Day!

Yesterday I became the Mommy of a three-year-old.  I can't believe it!  We had a fun day celebrating our big guy.  We began the day by going to our last MOPS meeting.  The kids in Caden's class sang him "Happy Birthday" and they all serenaded the moms with two songs (video to come later, I hope!). After we got home and had lunch, Caden helped JZ on his project of the day - building new shelves and drawers for all of the  new trucks he got for his birthday!

What a big helper!

After his nap he got to see his birthday presents from JZ, Asher, and me -

a new movie watching chair...

...and a workbench "just like Daddy's."

He also got to play with all the trucks he got at his party (we put them out of sight until we could find a place to store them!)

That evening Caden got to choose what we had for dinner.  Not surprisingly, he chose "Chickie Donald's" (don't be jealous!).

Both boys thought "Chickie Donald's" was awesome - Asher took a power nap while we ate, and Caden got spy glasses in his Happy Meal.  Aaah, the simple things in life!

After we got home we lit the candle (again!) and sang "Happy Birthday" (again!).

We also Face Timed with Papa and Gaga (again)

And ate cake (again!)

He loved the "red cake" he chose - it was yummy and MESSY!

Afterwards we put on pj's, dragged the movie watching chair over, and watched "Mater's Tall Tales" before bed.

A terrific third birthday for our big dude

I think he liked it, and we certainly loved celebrating with him.  Happy Birthday, CP!
