Mom-Mama-Mommy and Caden's Day

This year, Caden's actual birthday was on Mother's Day. I can't think of a better little guy to share "my" day with than the one who made me a mom in the first place!

My special day actually started early. On Friday I received some lovely gifts from my boys - roses and chocolate covered strawberries (+a spa gift card - yippee!!)

We started out the birth/mother's day by taking this handsome 2-year old to church

After church we went to JZ's Aunt DeeDee's house to celebrate all of the moms and the May birthdays. Actually, it wasn't just the moms that were spoiled - all of the girls were well taken care of, even Belle

It was a beautiful day int he neighborhood and Caden loved playing at DeeDee's house. He spent the day digging in the dirt and playing t-ball

One thing CP did not do that day was nap. We put him down for a nap in his pack-n-play with no problems. 30 minutes later JZ went inside and heard, "Hi, Daddy." He turned around and CP was standing on the stairs! He had crawled out of the pack-n-play, opened the bedroom door, and walked out. We put him down again - in another room, in the middle of the floor, with the door shut tightly - and it wasn't 5 minutes before he was knocking on the inside of the door saying, "Night-night all done." Apparently he is now a big boy. Luckily, he hasn't crawled out of his crib yet, but it won't be much longer!

After his no-nap, we opened presents and had cake. There were two cakes for the birthday kids. A little Elmo cake for CP

and another one for JZ and DeeDee
They were super yummy!
Two of the greatest blessings in the world is to have a mom and to be a mom and I'm thankful that my boys made the day so special for me

Party Like a Rock Star

Our little rock star celebrated his 2nd birthday on Sunday! We hosted a rock star themed breakfast bash on Saturday for our friends, Caden's buddies, and our family. We had everything we needed to have a rockin' good time (I'm going to see how many times I can throw that in here!)...

A VIP list and All Access passes

microphone bubble favors
a tattoo parlor
an accessories department

rockin' decorations
and a well staffed venue
We convinced Nana and Grandpa Kim to come over early to help set up for our gig. Kim and JZ cooked bacon and sausage out on the grill
and Nana was in charge of wrangling the birthday boy

When the VIPs showed up they checked in and got their badges
and then went outside to play
Caden received a sandbox for his birthday and it was a big hit!
there was also a little t-ball practice
accessorizing

and some sliding
all while the adults talked
there was also a lot of eating (who doesn't love breakfast food?!?)
there was (of course!) some picture posing/birthday song singing/candle lighting/cake eating
Instead of opening presents, we asked everyone to bring a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to The Children's Hospital in Denver. Our friends were extremely generous and there are going to be some happy kiddos soon!
Afterwards we had to do a little cleaning up
After all that fun, even rock stars need a little nap
Happy Birthday my sweet Caden P - I can't believe you are already two years old!!! You have turned into the most fun, silly, giggly, feisty, stubborn little guy I know. You make me laugh and want to pull my hair out more than anyone else - usually in the same 30 min. period. I know there is some sort of plan for that fiery little personality of yours. I don't know what it is, but I know it will be something great. I love you so much and I am so proud of you and to be your mommy

New Feature

Blogspot now has a new feature! If you look in the sidebar on the right - underneath the age ticker and above JZ's picture - you will see where it says "Sign-up to Follow by Email." This new feature allows you to subscribe to the Team Zahrte blog and receive an email whenever it is updated. Now you don't have to check five times a day to see if it has been updated - ha!

Thank you for following our blog - stay tuned for pictures of the BIG BIRTHDAY!

More Two

When Courtney came over to take Caden's two-year pictures last week, I was planning on changing his clothes in the middle, but since he wasn't an overly willing participant I decided not to press my luck. Today I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and put him in outfit #2. The pictures are not as good as Courtney's but at least I got the second outfit in!

On the Road...

...to recovery.

On Friday morning I noticed CP had a runny nose and sounded very congested. No problem, I can deal with snot. After his ridiculously long nap (which I was only slightly concerned about since he had played with Ayden and Sophia for hours while their mommy and I watched the royal wedding!) he woke up with a temp of 101.5. No problem, I gave him some Motrin. Saturday morning he was fine. Buckets of green snot, but no temp. Super. Saturday afternoon he was very restless during his nap and when he woke up he was a disaster. Temp of 102 and pulling on his ear saying, "Ouch!" Uh-oh. Bad sign! He was an absolute zombie on my shoulder and moaning in pain. I gave him some Motrin and called the on-call doctor. By the time they returned my call he was running around again (God bless the maker of Motrin!). They told me that since the Motrin was making him comfortable he didn't have to be taken to an Urgent Care facility that evening. We could watch him and wait until the next day. He slept well that night, but JZ and I had already decided he would stay home from church and I would go since I had some singing stuff to do. He texted me in the middle of the service saying CP was a mess and they were headed to Urgent Care. I finished up at church and met them there. When I walked in I could hear CP crying :( His left ear was infected and his right ear was red. They gave him a dose of Motrin and two prescriptions - one for antibiotics and one for ear drops. Last night he was still snotty, but much happier. He slept a good 13 hours last night and is a new kiddo today...

bouncing off the walls (actually he bounced off the couch and got a boo-boo that *needed* ice)

being silly

but still needing a little snuggle time

On the road (to a healthy, happy toddler) again!
