Together Forever!

About a month ago, I posted on Facebook that Caden had made me promise that I would go with him to college because he thought he would be "lonely and scared."  Somebody suggested that I videotape him saying that so I can replay it for him when he goes off to college (EEEK!)  and does definitely does NOT want me going with him.  Last week, I finally got him on video...

So there you have it!  Looks like we're all going to college together - along with our toys and food!

15 Months

Asher is:

*15 months old

*24 lbs (70%)
*32 in. (85%)

*a LOT less wobbly these days

*REALLY enjoying his new found freedom and independence (and don't even THINK about trying to carry or help him.  MYSELF!)

*always wrestling with his big brother (and although this video doesn't show it, he usually wins!)

*giggly

*currently sporting a new big-boy haircut...
because THIS is what he looked like Saturday morning

*into EVERYTHING (Seriously.  I can't take this kid anywhere that doesn't have a sealed play area)

*no longer using a bottle at ALL - yahoo!

*looking more and more like his handsome big brother (with a little extra Brazil thrown in)

Happy 15 months Asher Basher!  Just being around you makes us smile.  We love you, you happy, darling, giggly, wiggly, sweet, precious wild man!

Wild Man!

Remember the days when I described Asher as peaceful, easy-going and calm?!? Ha!  Those days are long gone!

He's still happy and sweet, but he's also a WILD MAN!  Dude is crazy and into EVERYTHING these days.

He refuses to let us help him at all and is continually running into things, catching himself with his face instead of his hands, and giving me a heart attack at every turn.
It's a good thing he's cute, 'cause he's driving his mama into an early grave!

Last week we were all supposed to go on a family vacation to Breckenridge, but we had to change it because of Caden's cast.  We were unable to reschedule our week, so we had separate vacations.  I went up alone for 48 hours and spent the entire time scrapbooking - ok, I had a massage too! On Monday, JZ and Asher came up and we spent one night with just one kiddo.  We missed Caden, but we enjoyed taking #2 swimming in the big water

Tuesday morning the three of us went home to reunite with CP. Wednesday morning we took Caden to his doctor's appointment and then JZ and his buddy went back up to Breckenridge until Sat.  It wasn't quite the vacation we had envisioned, and it certainly wasn't as much fun as all being together, but I will admit that it was relaxing.  I came home missing my boys and feeling reenergized to attack the next few weeks.

Thank goodness I was rested, because this kid took off walking as soon as I got home

Wild man is on the move!

What Do You Do With a Broken Leg?

Are you wondering what we've been doing?  Well, nothing that involves walking, water, or small rocks, but we've still been able to have some fun around here.

We've taken several bikes rides
Asher loves it, I swear!
Caden has figured out a way to still work at his tool bench

 We've visited the Denver Zoo

And played LOTS of Legos.

We've also made pizza, eaten LOTS of popsicles (7UP with gummy bears are the fav!), and had picnics with friends

And then there's the wrestling.  Oh, the wrestling.  So, being cooped up is hard for a little boy that likes to run, jump, and play.  Sometimes he goes a little stir crazy with some serious pent up energy.  It's a little scary to wrestle with him (or allow him to wrestle with his baby brother!) when there's a club leg flying around.  So, we gave him a big stuffed dog named Yogi (since he has a bear named Puppy, it seemed only right to have a dog named after Yogi Bear) and told him to pin him.

Caden was declared the winner!!

Last Wednesday we took CP back to the doctor for an x-ray and check up.  Good news is that his leg is healing well!

And...this guy was part of the No Cry Club!!  Yay, tough guy Caden!

We go back in 3 weeks for another check-up.  They will x-ray his leg again and if it has healed, they will remove the cast!  I'm not super hopeful about that possibility and am certainly not going to tell him he might be getting his cast off.  Children's Hospital is wonderful...and very cautious (which I appreciate.  I do NOT want to do this again!).  The break is very near the growth plate that 80% of his leg growth comes from, so they want it to be really solid.  I'm currently praying for miraculous bone growth by June 26th!  The only side effect that he MIGHT have is that his left leg could become a little longer than the right.  Because of the break, the body says, "Make bone, make bone."  It's possible that his body might make too much bone at a faster rate than the other side.  Luckily, if that does happen, it should right itself within a year.  There shouldn't be any lasting effects from this.  Whew!!

However, there might be some lasting effects on me.  I'm still debating if I should ever let him (or Asher@) on a trampoline, bike, scooter, or bouncy house again.

Jeremy says I have to.

Fine.  If Caden can be a tough guy I can too!

Anyone looking for a play date?!?  Bring your kids on over, we love company!!
