Whoa, Asher Basher!

Yesterday, this sweet boy turned four months old.

Today we went to the doctor for his well-baby check-up and another round of shots.

Dude is big. Really big.

Like
16 lb. 3.2 oz. (75%)
25 1/2 in. (75%)
Big.

Like
almost 2 lb.
and 3/4 in.
bigger than his brother was at 4 months

Just as cute though

No wonder the 3-6 months clothes and size 2 diapers are beginning to look a little tight!

You're living up to your nickname, Asher Basher!

In each of the pictures, Caden is on the left and Asher is on the right.  I think they look pretty similar - handsome, handsome, handsome!

Conversations with Caden

I'm going to be really sad when Caden starts saying things correctly.  It's just too cute!  Here are a few of my current favorites:

  • hang-ga-ber (hamburger)
  • mock-a-ma-lo-lee (guacamole - see video below)

  • "Can I see Asher please, Mommy?  He's my friend."
  • "We've got work to do.  It's big boy work.  Sorry Gags!"
  • funder (thunder)
  • gumbrella (umbrella)
  • safari (Ferrari)
  • "I'm just realing." ("realing" is the opposite of pretending.  I asked him if he really had to go potty or if he was just pretending.  He told me he was "realing," not pretending.)

iPhone Dump

Usually I take pictures on our big camera.  Sometimes I don't have our big camera with me, so I take pics on my camera phone and then I forget to take the pics off my phone for awhile.  Oops!  So here are some (relatively) recent, random pics that I took on my phone while we were out and about...

Last week we went to an employee appreciation party at Coors (you're probably asking yourself who is employed at the brewery...no one!  We went as the guests of my retiree mom).

There was a race that Caden was signed up for, but did not participate in - it started at 7:30am, and there are many things I will wake him up for, but that's not one of them!  At least he got a free t-shirt and prizes!

There was also food, face painting, and jumpy castles

Caden's favorite part was the fire truck - the firefighters even let him spray the fire hose!

Here is a video of Caden doing his newest trick - a somersault!

One night, after Caden had gone to bed and JZ had gone to meet a friend for a few beers,  Asher and I were hanging out on the couch together watching The Bachelorette on TV and waiting to feed him one more time.  I was so enthralled in the show that I didn't realize that he had stopped kicking around.  I looked down and realized Asher had started his night right there.  i figured he would sleep for 20 min. or so, but two hours later I finally woke him up to feed him one last time and put him to bed.
Let's keep him, shall we?

The other day Caden, Asher, Papa, Gaga, and I went to the Denver Children's Museum again.  This time, Caden spent a lot of time "building" things with REAL TOOLS

So happy!  I'm sure it's because of the tools, but I'll just keep telling myself that it's because he got to play with me :)

I keep telling Asher that one day (too soon!) he'll be big enough to play at the museum with his big brother.  Until then, he hangs out in the stroller with Freddie the Firefly

And last but not least, this is what a tree that has been struck by lightning looks like

Seriously, this is a tree in our front yard that got zapped.  After a big flash and a HUGE crash of thunder that caused our alarm system to trip and start going off, this is what JZ saw - a sizzling tree trunk with a big hunk of dirt missing (we found it in the middle of the sidewalk).  JZ's fillings started tingling and it will probably take Caden and Belle forEVER to not shake during a thunderstorm.  And Asher?  He slept through the entire thing, even though the lightning hit right outside his window.

Exciting stuff, right?

Diggin' Each Other

This all started because I was a slacker on the 4th of July and didn't get a picture of the boys together in their shirts that looked like this
Not the cutest shirts ever, but matching nonetheless.

Today, they were wearing matching shirts again (cute ones with bulldozers and 'Big Brother' and 'Little Brother' written on them), so I was determined not to be the slacker Mommy and get pictures of them together.

News Flash: Taking a picture of a 3 year old and a 3 month old together is nearly impossible!

Asher won't' take his hands out of his mouth

And Caden gives me the cheesiest cheese face every time I pull out the camera

And that's if I can even get them to look at me!

They're still cute, though

Luckily, I was able to get a few pretty good ones of them diggin' each other!

I quickly rethought my original idea of putting them back into their 4th of July shirts and reinacting the day - I quit!

The 4th

Happy Independence Day from Team Z!

We started our day with our annual neighborhood parade
Asher got to participate in the parade this year - he had a balloon and some streamers tied to his stroller!

This is how Gaga walked throughout the parade.  Caden was SUPER worried about his balloon blowing away (in his defense, we'd already lost 2), so Gaga held onto the tied-to-the-wagon balloon just in case.

This year was much like other years - a police escort,

a crazy amount of kids, bikes, wagons, and strollers

popsicles at the park after the parade,

Thanks to the grandmas, even Asher got in on the goods!

stickers from the policeman,

He's saying, "Look at my badge, Uncle Travis!"

and lots of smiles, playing, and pictures!

That evening we had some neighbors and a couple of friends come over for a BBQ.  We didn't get to see any fireworks because we have a fire ban, but we had lots of fun anyway!  We pulled out the pool, Slip-N-Slide, and water toys for Caden, Kaila, and Ethan

They figured out a way to have fun!

JZ (of course!) worked his magic on the grill and we ate GOOD!

Asher had a fun first 4th too

It was almost 10:00 before I got Caden to bed that night (and he did not nap at all that day.  The day before?  4 hours.  July 4?  NOTHING!)!  He only cried once though - when it was time for Kaila and Ethan to go home (he is his mother's son, after all!).  I guess that's the sign of a good day!

Let freedom ring!
