I do, but then again I think all newborns look like Jeremy - little old men with receding hairlines and square faces!

A Glimpse Into Asher's Life...

Ah, the life of a six week old...

Power to the people!

Occasionally, he wakes up and does this...

Or poops.  You're welcome for no pictures.  

I keep trying to get a picture of him smiling (it's a real smile now, not gas!), but no such luck yet.  I'll have to get Caden to help me.  No one gets a smile out of Asher quite like his big brother!

AND, just to brag on Asher - he slept from 10pm until 6am last night.  That's right, my kid rocks (not that I'm biased or anything!)

Hooray for being six week-old!!

Sweet Slices of Summer

I know it's still April, but the weather has been beautiful lately.  REALLY beautiful!  So, one night we decided to make some pizza, play, and eat outside.  Caden was a big fan of all of those ideas.  

He loved helping make the pizza

While the pizza was cooking he played in his park

He played nicely with his brother too

We ate our yummy, Caden-made pizza outside

Caden said that he couldn't look at the camera because, "I eating pizza right now."

Well, one of us just got to watch


After dinner the other one of us got nakey (what, is that weird?)


And had some watermelon for 'zert

I'm pretty sure my parents have a similar picture of me somewhere

 











Afterwards we went directly inside for a bath.  Then Caden read us a book before bed

It was the perfect ending to a perfect day!

Like many toddler boys, Caden likes to push his trucks around like this...

This morning, the digger on the front got stuck on the carpet, causing the tractor to stop abruptly.  Unfortunately, Caden didn't stop and went flying over the tractor, hitting his eye on the metal corner of the tractor.   

Ouch, that's going to leave a mark!

No, This Is How You Do It!

Last week we had to invest in a new play gym for Asher.  Caden had a fabulous play gym but, unfortunately, we left the batteries in the music thingy. After a few years of not being used, the batteries corroded and the music no longer works.  What good is a play gym without music?  Luckily, we still had Target gift cards left over and we were able to get Asher a new one.  Caden loved his play gym and we're hoping Asher will too.  

I guess I shouldn't say that Caden loveD his play gym.  He still kind of loves it.  Like all good big brothers he gave the gym a test drive before his brother used it - he had to figure out how it all worked, after all!

Then is was Asher's turn to give it a go

Apparently he was not doing it right...

Luckily, Caden was there to teach him the correct way to do it.

1 Month!

Dear Asher,

Today you are one month old. 

My how time flies!  Although you just arrived on this earth, sometimes I can't remember what it was like without you.  At one month you:

* wear 0-3 month clothes

* wear a size one diaper

* weigh 9 lbs 12.8 oz (well, that was last week.  You're probably just under 10 pounds now)

* sleep 5-7 hour stretches at night (Yahoo!)

* eat about 5 ounces at a time, about 6 times a day

* love to be swaddled or held

* still sleep in the car seat in our closet (hey, you like to be tight and swaddled, and it's safer than us holding you!)

* have us all wrapped around your finger - especially this guy

Happy one month birthday, sweet Asher!  You are pure sweetness, joy, and loved, loved, loved!

How Does That Happen?

Do you see this handsome kiddo?

This poor little friend has (what we thought was) the world's worst diaper rash.  He's actually had some sort of a diaper rash since the hospital.  I guess that's what happens when you poop 10 times a day.  We tried everything the doctor suggested, but nothing helped. In fact, the rash got worse.  His skin actually looked like it was peeling off.  Our chilly-willy little baby was no longer chilly-willy. Instead, we called him Screamy McScreamerson. 

 We knew that something was not right (we're geniuses, I know), so we called the doctor and they said they wanted to see him. They swabbed his raw little bum and cultured it for strep of all things.  It turned positive immediately.  Yep, he has a strep infection in his diaper area.  I'll give you a minute for a collective cringe... 

But, in positive news he:

a.  now has antibiotics to clear up the infection.  It's not gone yet, but it's significantly better.  It's a bummer that he has to have antibiotics, but at least he was almost 4 weeks old - Caden was on antibiotics at 2 weeks!

b.  now weighs 9lbs 12.8 oz.  He has gained a full pound in two weeks.

c.  is no longer Screamy McScreamerson.  He again looks like this...

Welcome back sweet boy.  But seriously, how does that happen?!?
