Such a Boy

When I found out we were having a boy I was a little concerned. I'm a very girly girl, I don't know what boys do! I have now learned that little boys are a lot like big boys (at least my big boy) - they like trucks!

They like to look under the hood and at the wheels

They push them around making "vroom-vroom" noises

They run them into things
And eventually get tired of their old truck and need a new, bigger truckto, you know, run into stuff

And, on a side note, if you're wondering why my little boy looks so handsome, just check out his shirt!

It Deserves a Post of its Own...

Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you get to smooch someone you love too!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day from Team Zahrte!

Caden woke up this morning and opened his Valentine's Day gift - a stuffed Spot/pillow/blanket/book thingy
Which he loved

and carried around with him (causing him to look as if he had grown a tail overnight)
And he opened his cards
And played with the box
And his other new Valentine's Day toys
(Thanks for the "ight" Auntie DeeDee and Uncle Kirk!)

Since my big Valentine had to fly to FL this morning for work, I will be spending the evening with my little Valentine
I can think of worse Valentine's Day dates!

The Best $5.50 We've Ever Spent!

Today we took a family field trip to Guitar City. Although I am not a huge fan of Guitar City, Caden and JZ LOVE it! JZ likes to look at, drool over, and jam on some fancy guitars. Caden likes to run around like the owns the place, strum guitars, and bang on the drums. He always wins over the staff and customers and they encourage his "playing." They even get him set up on a drum set of his own

While we were strolling around the store, Caden found a set of drum sticks in their clearance area. He was so excited about his "icks" that we just couldn't tell him no. So now we are the proud owners of drum sticks. They were the best $5.50 we've ever spent!

Numero 4

Yesterday, Caden went for haircut numero 4. This child has some serious hair that grows like crazy! He also has several pretty unfortunate cowlicks, so when his hair gets long he can look very unloved and unkept very quickly. I have been putting off haircut numero 4 because haircut numero 3 wasn't a pleasant experience. It involved Caden clinging to me, face buried in my shoulder, while I sat in the chair with him. Screaming (him, not me. Although I felt like it!) and both of us covered with hair. Good times. So, when JZ suggested haircut numero 4, I gladly sent THEM to Lollilocks. Without me. I went to Target instead.

Caden and his Daddy of the Year now have a new activity to do together - haircuts! From what I hear, Caden was excellent. JZ gave him a sucker ("auckers" are his favorite treat!) as they walked in the door, and he sat in the chair like a big boy while the nice lady gave him a trim. JZ reports he didn't cry, only fussed a little when they put the cape on him, and said "All done!" twice before they were actually done.
Not only did my fantastic hubby take CP all the way to Boulder to get his haircut by himself, but he took pictures too!

Not exactly a happy subject, but not screaming either. Notice the death grip on the "aucker"...

So handsome!
