Fall in CO
Yesterday we decided to drive up to the mountains to see the changing Aspen trees. The colors were not as brilliant as they have been in previous years, but they were still pretty nonetheless. Caden enjoyed the car ride up the hill (long enough for a good nap), lunch at Tommyknockers Brewery, and the ride back down (another nap!). He slept through most of the tree viewing - but that shouldn't surprise us. He has slept through fireworks on the 4th of July, the Buffalo Bill Days parade, Golden's 150th Anniversary parade, and the Taste of Colorado. Growing is hard work! We were able to get him to wake up long enough for a few pictures.
As you can see, it was a little windy!

New Exersaucer
Caden has a new toy to play with - a super cool exersaucer! He loves playing (I mean working!) in it. Thanks Zook Family!

First Cereal
Today we gave Caden his first solid food - rice cereal. It went...well, as to be expected. Most of it ended up on his chin, he kept pushing his tongue in the wrong direction, and it was a BIG 'ol mess. Perfect!
Here are a few pictures of our adventure
First bite
Not so sure about this stuff
Pushing back - don't want too much
Wiping up
All done!
In the end, I'm not sure he loved his soupy mush. I'm pretty sure he thinks it is easier coming out of the bottle, but we'll keep working on it.

4 Months
On Tuesday Caden turned 4 months old! Today we went to the Doctor for his 4 month well-baby check and another round of shots. The Doctor was pleased with his growth and recommended that we start some rice cereal. She thinks that he is ready for some solids because he is taking so much formula in a 24 hour period and is spitting up quite a bit. She thinks adding in a little cereal might thicken up the liquid in his tummy and make it stay down better. Based on his growth, she is not overly concerned about the spitting - enough seems to be staying in!
Weight - 14.5 pounds (38%)
Height - 24 3/4 inches (44%)
Head - 16 1/2 inches (40%)

This round of shots was a little bit harder for the poor baby. He has been sleeping most of the afternoon and evening. A little Tylenol seemed to help.
Here are a few pictures of our cute little guy
He can almost grab his feet now. He can get his hands to his toes, but he hasn't quite mastered grabbing them. He does think they are very interesting and checks them out frequently. In the next picture he is also doing his new favorite trick - blowing bubbles. It's now very hard to get a picture of him without blowing bubbles or with his hands in his mouth
See what I mean...?
And just for fun, one more really cute one

Taste of Colorado
On Monday, JZ, Caden, and I went downtown to the Taste of Colorado. The Taste of Colorado is a huge festival in downtown Denver. Local restaurants set up booths and we were able to sample lots of different types of cuisine - for a nominal (yeah, right!) fee, of course! We had a gyro, spicy stuffed jalapeno, buffalo burger, pasta, gelato, and vanilla ice cream (I realize that last one doesn't quite fit, but JZ always gets plain vanilla ice cream. Always.). Despite the heat, Caden was awesome. Because of the hot sun on the asphalt, we had to keep him in the stroller while we walked, but we went to listen to some music and he was able to get out and lay on a blanket and look at the trees. Pretty!
Here are a few pictures of our adventure to the big city

One Year Ago
One year ago today...
In case you missed (or would like to relive) my account of that day, you can read about how we found out we were expecting here.
It's hard to believe that he has gone from two little lines, to a bouncing baby boy. What a miracle and a blessing Caden is!

Are You Ready For Some Football?
Football season has hit our house in a big way.
On Thursday JZ and I got to go to the Broncos vs. Cardinals preseason game. Caden didn't get to go, but he did sport his Broncos wear in support of the home team.
Tonight we all watched the CSU Rams whup-up on the CU Buffs. Sorry CU fans, the Rammies were victorious again!
